Tour details

The cittadellese area is a territory between ancient roads of Roman origin, such as the Postumia and the Valsugana, and between the route of the ancient Medoacus, the current Brenta river.
The area crossed by the river is characterised by floodplain woods and small lakes, cycle paths, stretches of stones, ancient villages and cultivated fields; the area is also very rich in terms of food and wine. The area is also characterised by the dense presence of villas and palaces, as well as numerous examples of civil and religious architecture, parks and gardens. Given the multitude of points of historical, artistic, naturalistic and gastronomic interest, it is the ideal destination for a slow-tour.

Travel programme

Check- in and Piazzola on Brenta

The meeting place will be in front of “Hotel Filanda”, departure is set for 10.00 a.m. in the direction of Piazzola Sul Brenta. Along the banks of the river Brenta, immersed in the luxuriant vegetation of the protected area, we will reach our destination, where the majestic Villa Contarini stands out, a complex of buildings and a park that is one of the largest in the Veneto region.
After visiting the villa, we return to “Cittadella” where we are expected to check into the hotel.

Day 2 (Km 50 )Marostica-Bassano del Grappa

On this second day we will visit two more strongholds in the Vicenza area, i.e., Marostica and Bassano del Grappa. These two walled cities, which are only a few dozen kilometres apart, are famous respectively for their chess square – which hosts the September event with the “human” chess game – and for the Ponte degli Alpini, designed by Palladio and now a symbol of the city.
Before heading back home we visit the Grappa Museum in Bassano.
